Scene Group Oy has been heavily investing on data safety and quick disaster recovery methods. We have now fully deployed R1Soft's Continuous Data Protection technology across all our hosting servers. Thanks to CDP, we are now taking full backups of all servers four times a day!
Continuous Data Protection
Continuous Data Protection (or just CDP) makes it possible to have multiple restore points of all servers. Scene Group's servers are currently been backed up 4 times a day. This means we always have fresh backups available, that are no older than 6 hours at any point. Thanks to multiple recovery points, we can restore data from earlier time periods as well if required. CDP is a superior backup method when compared to other traditional backup methods used by most webhosting providers, that only provide daily backups, sometimes more than 24 hours old.
Restore a file, directory, database or a database table
All customers have new "R1Soft Backup" section in their cPanel frontpage. From this panel you can easily restore directories or even just single files with just a few clicks. For now, when restoring MySQL databases and database tables you will need to contact customer support. In the near future, MySQL restores can be done using the cPanel interface, without contacting customer support!

Fast disaster recovery with Bare Metal Restore
One of the greatest features of CDP is the Bare Metal Restore feature. Using Bare Metal Restore it's possible to restore an entire server to it's latest restore point within minutes, with no need to reinstall the operating system. Disaster recovery is up to 10 times faster with Bare Metal Restore compared to traditional backup systems.

Thanks to Bare Metal Restore, the entire server has been restored within minutes - and everything is just the way it was before the HD failed. Thanks to CDP, all restored files are no older than max. 6 hours. When using traditional backup methods, the restoring process can take several hours (or even days!) and in most of the cases, the files are over 24 hours old.
CDP Server doesn't slow down the server
Traditional backup methods increase server loads, resulting in slow page load times and annoyed users. With CDP, this is not happening. CDP Server is working directly on the HD Sector level, that doesn't slow down the server at all.
Available to everyone
All Scene Group's webhosting customers have immediate access to this technology. CDP Server is already making backups of all our servers. Dedicated server customers can purchase CDP technology as an addon service.
